Steven G. Nelson, age 43, of rural Alden, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at his home. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Crossroads Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Glen Stevens will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Freeborn Cemetery, Freeborn.
Steven was born May 20, 1966, in Ramsey County. He graduated from Freeborn High School, class of 1985. He loved spending time outdoors and was always on the go. His hobbies included golfing, his Corvettes, riding snowmobile, and using his watercraft on Fountain Lake. He enjoyed using his John Deere equipment and took great pride in his lawn. He was meticulous with his lawn irrigation, fertilization, mowing and yard sweeping.
Steven is survived by his wife Valerie of Alden, parents Curtis and Judy Nelson of Hartland, sister Deb (Kenny) Meyer and their children Dustin, Derek, and Kendra, of Prior Lake, sister Sue (Phil) Ferbuyt and their children Chelsey and Samantha, of St. Michael, grandparents Arnold and Ardis Petersen of Alden, parents-in-law Brett and Lori Crumb of Hartland, sister-in-law Jackie (Brian) Allard and their son Boston of Janesville, brothers-in-law Matt Crumb and Jason Crumb, both of Hartland, as well as many aunts, uncles and their families.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Chester and Esther Nelson.
