Tiny Brandt, 76

Funeral services for Tiny (C.M.) Brandt of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Joel Vano will officiate. Friends may meet with the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea Area Veterans Groups.
Tiny died Monday, April 27, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. He was 76 years of age.
Tiny was born June 17, 1932, in Wells, the son of Erwin and Caroline (Lutteke) Brandt. He graduated from Wells High School and received his BS degree from the University of Minnesota. On June 28, 1952, he married Florence Alderink, his wife of 57 years, at St James Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.
Tiny was a part of the ROTC training and attained the rank of lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He had been employed in sales for most of his life. He was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church serving on various committees.
His passions included working with the Republican Party, Lions Club of Wells and he served as district governor and the Gideons Jail Ministry. He loved to be in touch with people and volunteer his time. Tiny was an avid sports fan, enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, fishing and playing cards. He participated for many years in the Cancer Bike-A-thon in Freeborn County. Spending time with his family was always very important to him.
Tiny is survived by his best friend and wife Florence (Punkin) of Albert Lea; children: Lyle and his wife Bonnie of Maple Plain, Lori and her husband Warren Anderson of Roseville, Laran and his wife Larisa of Inver Grove Heights; grandchildren include: April Brandt, Kyle and Tanner Brandt and Sarah Anderson. There are two great grandchildren: Madalyn and Evan Brandt. Also surviving are four brothers and their spouses.
Tiny was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
