George Kleinschrodt, 98

Funeral services for George Kleinschrodt, 98, of Albert Lea, will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Silver Lake Lutheran Church. The Rev. Randy Baldwin will officiate. Burial will be at Silver Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
George died Sunday, March 29, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
George Kleinschrodt was born Feb. 9, 1911, in Kiester to John and Mary (Lohner) Kleinschrodt. He attended a country school. After school George was a farmer and worked at Weyerhaeuser and did wood-working, which he enjoyed. George was united in marriage with Gerda Sorensen on Sept. 27, 1937, in Northwood, Iowa. The couple then lived in Iowa and later moved to a farm south of Albert Lea. In 1946, they moved to a farm 3 miles east of Emmons and in the mid-1960s the couple moved to Albert Lea. George was a member of Silver Lake Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gerda; children: Phyllis Rusley, Gail (Glenn) Hardin, Dwight (Linette) Kleinschrodt, Paul (Sue) Kleinschrodt and Nancy Ginter; 13 grandchildren; five step grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters: Elizabeth Larsen and Frieda Jensen; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Kleinschrodt, Rhyna Berger and Agnes (Dale) Berger.
George was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis Kleinschrodt; daughter-in-law, Hazel Kleinschrodt; sons-in-law: Robert Rusley and Robert Ginter; brothers: Fred, Jack, Harold and Herman; sisters: Anna Fink, Rose Sorensen and Emma Katzung; sisters-in-law: Betty Schwemmler and Hazel Sorensen; brothers-in-law: Harry Larsen, Mert Jensen, Eldo Schwemmler, Iver Sorensen and Richard Berger; grandson, Kary Kleinschrodt; and step grandson, Chester Watters.
