Gordon F. Klenk, 91, of Wells, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Wells. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, with a Masonic Service at 4 p.m.; visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. The Rev. Paul Woolverton will officiate and burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells. Military Honors will be accorded by the Easton American Legion and the Wells Color Guard.
Gordon Frederick Klenk was born March 1, 1918, the son of Fred and Martha (Schrader) Klenk in Easton. Gordon graduated from Wells High School in 1934 and was a graduate of Carlton College in 1938. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. Gordon served as the Minnesota State Director of the Farmers Home Administration for the USDA. He married Mary Ann (Huntington) Wagner in 1975. Gordon was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners Lodge in Albert Lea. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Wells, and the Easton American Legion Post.
He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn Klenk of Wells; two children: Carol (Walter) Piepho of Olathe, Kan., Matthew (Andrea) Wagner of Alexandria; four grandsons: Jeffrey (Meadow) Piepho of Salina, Kan., Matthew (Yvonne) Piepho of Olathe, Kan., Nicholas Wagner of Waseca, and Garrett Wagner of Thief River Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Catherine Ann Swenson (Wagner), in 1993.
Memorial preferred to the United Methodist Church in Wells.
