Marie Monson

Marie Clara (Passer) Monson, 94, of Austin died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.
Marie was born Oct. 21, 1914, to Silas and Irene (Payne) Passer in Faribault County, rural Wells.
In 1935, Marie married Earl Monson. They farmed in the Emmons and Albert Lea area before moving to Austin in 1951. She lived in the same house from January 1951 until May 2008, when she went to live at Good Samaritan. Marie was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Austin.
Marie is survived by her four children: Elaine (George) Ziebell, Glenville, Duane (Rosemary) Monson, Rochester, Marlene Monson, Roseville, and Michael (Sheryl) Monson, Austin; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Carma Buendorf, Blue Earth, and Arline Monson, Albert Lea; many nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl in 1994; and her sisters: Margaret (Adrian) Kauffmann, Adeline (Alvin) Werner and Betty (Ray) Werner.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Glenn L. Monson officiating. Organist will be Janet Gilbertson. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday for one hour before the service.
Casket bearers will be Steve Ziebell, Kevin Ziebell, Pete Ziebell, Tim Monson, Dylan Monson, Greg Huntley and Lowell Peterson.
Memorials are preferred to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church building project.
