Elsie was born Nov. 5, 1912, in Scarville, Iowa, the daughter of Emma (Belsheim) and John Hermanson. She received her education from Scarville High School and Iowa State University.
Elsie took care of her mother for many years in Forest City, Iowa, and later in Kiester. In Kiester she served as a nursing assistant and a receptionist for several local physicians. She also served long term as a secretary for the Kiester Elevator and as a secretary at Kiester High School.
In the final years of her professional work, she also was caretaker for her sister Bertha Mork. Elsie enjoyed working in her garden, cooking and baking sweets. She was very artistic with crafts, was a dedicated reader, liked putting together jigsaw puzzles and working crosswords, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She loved her cats, especially Peonce. She was an unsung heroine, unselfishly giving of herself for others.
Elsie is survived by nieces and nephews: Shirley, Donna, Ronald, Jerome, Paul, John, and their families.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings: Bertha Mork, Emil Hermanson, Morris Hermanson and Raymond Hermanson.
