Funeral services for Kathryn Gloria Carter, 91, of Albert Lea will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Home Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Kathryn died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Kathryn Gloria Carter was born on Dec. 23, 1917, to Louis and Jennie (Hileman) Lentz in Knoxville, Ill. She grew up and graduated from Knoxville High School. On May 10, 1938, Kathryn was united in marriage to William Carter in Burlington, Iowa. Together the couple owned and operated the Winona Sewing Machine Co. She retired in 1984 and moved to Albert Lea. Kathryn was a great homemaker and loved cooking. Her family was very important to her.
Survivors include her children: Rosalie and husband Roger Truax of Albert Lea, Robert C. Carter of Albert Lea, and Nancy and husband Marshall Yagan of Calabasa, Calif.; grandchildren: Todd and wife Kerry Truax of Rochester, Lisa and husband David Holben of Athens, Ohio, and Joshua Goldtstein of Los Angeles, Calif.; great-grandchildren: Riley and Quinn Truax of Rochester, and Ezra and Eathan Holben of Athens, Ohio.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents and eight brothers and sisters.
Memorials are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Home or Crossroads Community Hospice.
