Darlene Juveland

Funeral service for Darlene M. Juveland of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Le,a and one hour before service at the church.
Darlene died on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Center following a battle with cancer. She was 87 years old.
Darlene was born in Freeborn County on Sept. 2, 1921, the daughter of Sidney and Clara (Peterson) Seath. She was born in a little house on the farm north of Freeborn. Darlene graduated from Freeborn High School in 1939 and Mankato Business Commercial College. She was married to Kermit Donald Juveland on Aug. 16, 1942, in Freeborn. She farmed with her husband until January 1962. She has lived in Albert Lea for the past 46 years. Darlene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was active in the altar guild and circle. She enjoyed quilting, lefse making and sewing at the church. Darlene worked at KATE Radio as a receptionist and was a secretary for Queens Products from 1959 to 1984. She was a member of the V.F. W. and the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Albert Lea Senior Citizens Center plus various bridge and card clubs. Darlene enjoyed playing cards, scrabble, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles and being with her family.
Darlene is survived by her children: Darryl (Paula) Juveland of Albert Lea, Duane (Brenda) Juveland of Owatonna, Glen (LeAnn) Juveland of Albert Lea, Nancy (Tom) Haney of Ramsey, and Sue (Del) Johnson of Albert Lea; 10 grandchildren: Lynn (Rick) Ball, Scott Juveland, Kevin (Marie) Juveland, Michelle (Tim) Brownewell, Jennifer Juveland, Chadwick (Lori) Wolff, Katie (Doug) Dawson, Corey (Heidi) Wolff, Brooke Wangsness and Lucas Wangsness; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Ardis Drescher of Albert Lea anad Elaine Seath of Freeborn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kermit in 1987; brothers: Merlin Seath and George Seath; and sisters: Lorraine Carr and Faye Nelson.
