Arvin Thompson

Funeral services for Arvin Marlowe Thompson, 90, of Ellendale will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. The Rev. Arne Halbakken will officiate. Interment will be at First Lutheran Cemetery in Ellendale. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church and one hour prior to the service.
Arvin died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at Albert Lea Medical Center.
Arvin Marlowe Thompson was born on Feb. 28, 1918, to Marvel and Clara (Anderson) Thompson in Ellendale. Arvin grew up in the Ellendale area and farmed with his father. On July 28, 1941, he was united in marriage to Eileen Burshem in Ellendale. Arvin farmed all of his life. Arvin loved his family and the time spent with them. He always made it to all of his children’s school events. Everyone who met Arvin loved him. Arvin was a great family man and never lost his love for farming. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Ellendale and served on the Creamery Board for 25 years. He also enjoyed watching the Twins.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen; sons: Andy (Leslie) Thompson and Tim Thompson; grandchildren: Julie and Jeff; great-grandchildren: Andie Scout, Mason, Max, and Gray; and sisters-in-law: Alice Dugan, Luella Thompson and Helia Burshem.
Arvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Ann, at birth; parents: Marvel and Clara Thompson; and brothers: Norris and Marlowe.
