Arla died on Jan. 1 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She was 87. She was born on April 14, 1921, in Bath Township, the daughter of Alfred and Olga (Gulbrandson) Munson. Arla graduated from New Richland High School. She enjoyed being involved in 4-H. She married Leonard Hage on Nov. 28, 1943, at the Hartland Synod Church.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and also enjoyed working in home health care at St. John’s Lutheran Home and Land ’O Lakes. From 1985 until 1999 Arla and Leonard can be remembered for all the smiles they put on faces, as they were Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Northbridge Mall for all of those years.
After retiring, Arla enjoyed helping in the Home Activities Building at
the Freeborn County Fair. She and Leonard had enjoyed traveling, going to flea markets and antique shows and the yearly trip to the State Fair. She also got much enjoyment out of seeing her grandchildren involved in their 4-H projects. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
