Funeral services for Helen J. Stensrud, 83, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Kenneth Jensen will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Helen died on Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at Thorne Crest.
Helen June Stensrud was born on Oct. 10, 1925, in Hayward, the daughter of Oscar and Fleeta (Schue) Johnson. She grew up in Hayward and went to District 36 School. As a young woman, Helen worked for Land O’Lakes and also as a housekeeper. On June 18, 1949, Helen was married to Walter “Bud” Stensrud. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and of the VFW Auxiliary. Helen enjoyed doing fine needlework and embroidery. She liked watching her soap operas on television.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen and her husband Larry Lawrence of Albert Lea; son, Keith Stensrud and special friend Pauline Cameron of Albert Lea; grandsons: Tom and wife Deb Lawrence of Albert Lea and Travis Lawrence and his friend Robin of Glencoe; great-grandson, Gavin Lawrence: sisters: Dorothy Adams and Twila Laite; and nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; and a son, Ricky Dean, in infancy.
