Funeral services for Evelyn Elsie Iverson, 89, of Albert Lea will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Daniel Baker will officiate. Interment will be at East Freeborn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Evelyn died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Evelyn Elsie Iverson was born on June 26, 1919, to Herman and Elsie (Wilder) Akemann in Wells. She grew up and attended school in Wells. On Aug. 6, 1938 she married Everett Iverson in Northwood, Iowa. The couple made their home in Albert Lea. Evelyn worked at Wilson & Co. for many years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, the Eagles Auxiliary, Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary. Evelyn enjoyed bowling, bingo and cards. She also enjoyed going agate hunting. Evelyn was a loving mother and grandmother and very loving to all. She will be truly missed by many.
Survivors include her children: Gary (Linda) Iverson, Karen Broitzman, Sandra (Roelf) Oudekerk, Jerry Iverson, Barbara Callahan, and Everett “Butch” (Rhonda) Iverson; grandchildren: Todd (Renee) Iverson, Laurel (Jim) Jardine, Jay (Ann Marie) Iverson, Mechelle (Alfred) VanDyne, Michael Broitzman, Jodi (Jamison) Doeden, Lisa Broitzman, Curtis (fianceé Catherine) Bauers, James Bauers, Melissa (Craig) Schmidt, Mitchell (Meghan) Bauers, Chad (Jayne) Iverson, Nathan Callahan, Chance Callahan and Jeremy (Amy) Iverson; stepgrandchildren: Tamra (Chad) Kirschbaum, and Travis Oudekerk; 13 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and brother and sisters: Alvin (Mary) Akemann, Darlene Pyzick, Marcy Babcock, Joanne Dahl; in-laws, Harold Lura, Verona (Warren) Thorson and Jackie Ackemann.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett; brothers: LeRoy Akemann, Romain (Gail) Akemann, Keith (Dolly) Akemann and Clarence in infancy; sister, Shirley Lura; brothers and sisters-in-law, Chester Pyzick, Lynn Dahl, Merlin Babcock, Eleanor (Lawrence) Parks, Gladys (Kermit) Kvenvold, Donald Olson, Arnold Iverson, Alton Iverson, and Leona Rhiger.
