Edna Tripp

Edna Tripp, 91, of Marshfield, Wis., formerly of Worthington, died on Sunday morning, Dec. 14, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, Wis.
Edna was born on March 12, 1917, in Kenneth, to Henry and Tillie (Van Essen) Smook. She was united in marriage to Harold D. Tripp on Jan. 17, 1943, in the parsonage at the Presbyterian Church in Worthington. Harold passed away on June 25, 1995.
She loved to bake for her family and friends. She was known as “Grandma” to many and as “Nana” to her great grandchildren. Edna enjoyed playing cribbage, pool, and Rummikub at Parkview Terrace Apartments where she lived in Marshfield. Edna was a member of the Presbyterian Church, past District President of the Worthington VFW Auxiliary in which she held two state offices; active in Girl Scouts and had volunteered at the Cripple Children’s School in Worthington. Edna also volunteered at the Veteran’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., the Worthington Regional Hospital, and the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, Wis.
Edna is lovingly survived by her daughter, Susan Tripp of Albert Lea; son, Alan (Julie) Tripp of Marshfield, Wis., and their children: Timothy (Daryl) Tripp of Katonah, N.Y.; Tiffany Tripp of Marshfield, Wis.; David (Jessica) Tripp of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Lisa (Terril) Schneebeli of Spencer, Wis.; five great grandchildren: Sam, Jack, Taylor and Kellan Tripp and Kaleb Schneebeli. She is also survived by a sister, Genevieve McClure of Luverne; two sister-in-laws: Marjorie Smook of Magnolia and Mary Tripp of Worthington, and a brother-in-law, Reuben Svingen of Worthington.
Besides her parents and husband Harold, she was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Visitation will be at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday.
