Evelyn Rogers Lutner Warren died Dec. 1, 2008.
The sweet spirit of Evelyn left this world after 90 years and 10 months. Evelyn was born Jan. 30, 1918, to Jacob and Tillie (Heidebrink) Rogers on a farm in Reading. She graduated from Worthington High School in 1935 and went on to become a bookkeeper.
She married Donald C. Lutner in September of 1940. They had two children, Cheryl Beckett and Charles Lutner. They moved to Albert Lea where Evelyn was the executive secretary of the American Red Cross and also a representative for the town calling on newcomers to the community. In 1958 Donald died and Evelyn took over his insurance agency.
Evelyn married Louis D. Warren in Fort Collins, Colo., in January 1964. They lived in Albert Lea and Mesa, Ariz., until Louis’ death in May of 1988. During that time they were antique dealers.
Evelyn moved to Fort Collins in 1993 to be close to her daughter Cheryl Thompson (John) Beckett. During that time she was in Newcomers and a member of the Senior Center where she enjoyed playing pinochle. She was an avid gardener. She also enjoyed playing golf. In Albert Lea she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and in Fort Collins, the Tapestry community.
Evelyn was the oldest of 10 children. She is survived by two sisters, Jane Lutner and Marilyn (Bob) Koch; two brothers, Melvin (Bonnie) and Donald (Leola) Rogers; a sister-in-law Doris Scherff; brothers-in-law Earl Nelson and Harry Hodgekinson; her daughter Cheryl; her stepdaughters Robin and Tina; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Kelly. There are many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald and Louis; her son, Charlie; her brothers Henry, Myron and Jim; and her sisters Leanna and Loretta; and her parents.
Anyone interested in honoring Evelyn can participate in a virtual celebration on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 10 a.m. Mountain Standard Time by raising a flower to her memory and wishing her spirit well. A celebration will be held later in Fort Collins and Reading.
The family wishes to thank everyone especially the Visiting Angels who have been Evelyn’s companions.
