Joan Soller

The memorial service for Joan E. Soller of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. James Berning will officiate. Interment will be St. Theodore Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 9:30 until the time of the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
Joan was born on June 24, 1930, in Greenbush, the daughter of Nicholas and Mary (Bozikowski) Kalinoski.
She graduated from Greenbush High School and then completed secretarial training at the Minnesota School of Business. Joan worked for Canard Lines and then as a legal secretary for the Veteran’s Administration in the Twin Cities area. She was united in marriage to Victor F. Soller in August of 1952, in Greenbush. They moved and made their home in Albert Lea in 1962. After moving to Albert Lea she had worked as a secretary for Alpha School for a short time.
Joan was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, the Moose Auxiliary, the Albert Lea Garden Club and the Camera Club. She loved to garden and grew lots of flowers, and was a very active volunteer at area nursing homes, including taking communion to shut-ins every Sunday. She was an avid angel collector, with more than 300 in her collection.
Joan, a very loving wife and mother, died on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at the Parkview Care Center in Wells where she had been a resident for the past seven years.
She is survived by her husband, Victor, of Albert Lea; four children: Colleen Marie (Judd) Eifealdt of Wamsutter, Wyo., Jeffrey R. (Karen) Soller of Shawnee, Kan., David (Tracie) Soller of Rock Springs, Wyo., Daniel (Betty) Soller of Crosslake; grandchildren: Victor (Lila) Eifealdt, Eric Eifealdt, Grant Soller, Rena Soller, Jasmine Soller and Brittany (Jacob) Griffen; two brothers Victor Kalinoski of Florida and August (Joan) Kalinoski of Milwaukee, Wis.; sisters-in-law Rita Swinghammer of LaCrosse, Wis., Mary Ellen Davy of Caledonia, Patricia J. and Tom Taylor of LaCrosse, Wis., Marcy Kalinoski of Perham and Helen Kalinoski of Greenbush; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Andrew, Leo, Clem, Edward and Johnny Kalinoski; and a sister, Angeline Rubish.
