Merle E. Hendrickson, 89, of Edina, passed away at home on Oct. 12, 2008.
He was preceded in death by parents; four brothers and one sister.
Survived by loving wife of 62 years, Helen; children, DoRayne (David) Johnson, Susan (Kevin) Henry; grandchildren, Arthur and Andrew Johnson, Alex and Alison Henry; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Parker Johnson; brother, William (Rosemarie); many nieces, nephews other loving relatives and friends.
He was born April 21, 1919, in Randall, Iowa, his family moved to Albert Lea, in 1934 where he graduated in 1937. He entered the US Army in 1942 and served as a Sgt. in Signal Corps. (Communications) in the South Pacific until 1945. He married Helen Kjos on Aug. 24, 1946, in Albert Lea. He was employed by The Dayton Co., for 30 years retiring in 1982. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church (52 years) and the Sons of Norway Lodge.
Memorial service Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4100 Lyndale Ave S. Private interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu flowers, memorials preferred to the Bethlehem Foundation or Fairview Hospice.
