Evalyn Arrett, 85, of Northwood, Iowa, died on July 4, 2008, at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at the Northwood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wendi Gillan officiating. Burial will be in the Stateline Cemetery, rural Northwood, Iowa. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood, Iowa.
Evalyn was born Aug. 25, 1922, in Gordonsville, the daughter of Ira and Viola (Yeadon) Barber. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church. Evalyn loved her family, flowers and friends.
Evelyn married Lawrence Arrett on Nov. 1, 1940. They farmed all their married life in Minnesota and Iowa. Most of their married life they resided in the Northwood area.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; her son, Bob; her brother, Herb Barber; her parents and her grandson, Todd Hove.
Evalyn is survived by daughters Karen (Chuck) Hove of Northwood, Iowa, and Lois (Richard) Patterson of Northwood, Iowa; sons, Donald (Debbie) Arrett of Gordonsville and James (Sharon) Arrett of Independence, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Mark Hove, Teresa Stehn, Mary Branstad, Sandra Swalue, Darci Sanderson, Kim Soost, Julie Hove-Chrs, Robyn Wilder, Valerie Anderson, Michael Arrett and Lisa Arrett; step-grandchild Chad Patrick; 22 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Jean Arrett of California.
