Lois Fairchild

The memorial service for Lois M. Fairchild of Albert Lea will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Memorials preferred to Peace and Power at First Lutheran Church or Knutson Place.
Lois died Friday, June 13, 2008, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 85 years old.
Lois was born Oct. 11, 1922 in Fairfield, Iowa, to Thomas and Clara (Dawald) Spencer. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1949 and continued her education at the University of Iowa receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in physical education. Lois taught school at Albia, Iowa, and then moved to Albert Lea and taught at the junior and senior high schools. Lois married Charles Fairchild on Aug. 3, 1956, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Lois was a member of First Lutheran Church and belonged to the Altar Guild and Mission Circle. She also taught Sunday school and belonged to various church committees. Lois belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, Wa-Tan-Ye and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, knitting, crossword puzzles and sports. Lois especially loved being with her family.
Lois is lovingly survived by her two daughters: Beth Baier and her husband Steve of Rochester, Gail Fairchild of Bloomington; grandchildren: Katie LaPlant and her husband Jay of Burnsville; Adam Baier of Rochester; sisters-in-law: Ernestine (Tootie) Bergstrom of International Falls; and Clara Spencer of Walden, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles; one brother and two sisters.
