The funeral service for Dennis Lee Raleigh of Albert Lea will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.
Dennis passed away peacefully Thursday, July 22, 2010, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 62 years old.
Dennis was born Aug. 25, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Francis (Jack) and Ruth (Zemanek) Raleigh. Dennis married Peggy Tucker on Sept. 7, 1968, in Bedford, Ohio. He has lived in Ohio, Iowa, Colorado and Minnesota since 1994 when they moved to Albert Lea. Dennis was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and a member of the 3rd Degree of the Knights of Columbus. Dennis worked for Sears for 25 years. He has worked independently in the hardware business for 21 years. The last 16 years he owned and operated Raleigh’s Ace Hardware in Albert Lea. Dennis enjoyed golfing, hiking in the mountains and helping other people with their hardware puzzles. He especially loved spending time with his family.
Dennis is survived by his wife: Peggy Raleigh of Albert Lea; five children: Amanda Grzybowski and her husband John of Albert Lea, Michelle Rossate and her husband Jeff of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Wendy Lunning of Minneapolis, Matthew Raleigh and his wife Ellen of Albert Lea, and Michael Raleigh and special friend Kelsey Spalding of Minneapolis; grandchildren: Scott, Keith and Elise Grzybowski, Kaitlyn and Kalvin Rossate, Lauren Raleigh; sister: Kathy Fejes and her husband Robert of Ohio; brother: Kevin Raleigh and his wife Stephanie of California; sister-in-law: JoAnn Dorsey of Ohio, and many nieces and nephews.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents: Francis (Jack) and Ruth Raleigh; brother: Frank Raleigh.
