Here are highlights in history for Aug. 3, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1984 — One of the entertainers at the Freeborn County Fair was country-western singer Jerry Reed.

1974 — The Clothing Care Centre, 212 N. Broadway Ave., was advertising a pillow cleaning special. For $2.69 each, customers would get a new tick (cloth cover) and a sanitized pillow.

1964 — A barn on the farm of David Stadheim in Bath Township was destroyed by fire. No livestock was in the building. Damages were estimated to be $12,000.
