Albert Lea’s Aaron Klatt pitched and played first base for Team Minnesota at the Midwest Classic Baseball Tournament July 29 through Aug. 1 in Plainville, Ill.
Klatt, an incoming senior at Albert Lea High School, was one of 14 players selected for the team out of a possible 130 that tried out and one of only two outstate players on the team.
Team Minnesota went 1-1-2 in four games played. They beat Ohio, tied Missouri and Wisconsin and lost to Nebraska.
Over the weekend, Klatt pitched three innings, giving up one earned run while striking out three and walking two.
At the plate, Klatt was 3-for-10 with three RBIs and two sacrifices.
Klatt was an all-conference performer for the Tigers this past season, finishing at the top of the Big Nine Conference in batting average, strikeouts and ERA.
