Wisdom doesn’t always come with age

This is in response to a comment that was published in the Aug. 6 newspaper. First of all, I have heard many arguments against gay marriage and that is the worst one yet. Gay marriage has nothing to do with beastiality and to group them together is both ignorant and unrealistic. It’s just another way of evading the real issue at hand.
To have laws against gay marriage is an obvious form of discrimination that treats gays as less human than straights. Did you know that at one time blacks were considered only one-fifth of a human being? We now know that this is wrong. Let’s learn a lesson from the past about discrimination.
I would also like to comment on the part about “Joan” using her belief that her late husband was reincarnated into her dog as grounds to be able to marry her dog. She is trying to manipulate the law according to her own beliefs. I may be wrong, but isn’t that exactly to her own beliefs. I may be wrong, but say that “God says it’s wrong so it should be illegal?” Why should non-Christians have to abide by Christian rules? Ever heard of separation of church and state?
It seems to me that of all the people who oppose gay marriage, the majority are older people who are stuck in their ways. It’s quite a shame that wisdom doesn’t always come with age. It’s 2010. Let’s put an end to the discrimination and take a step in the right direction!
