Mildred Mershon, 81, Wells

Mildred Mae “Millie” Mershon, 81, of Wells, died Friday, March 2, 2012, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells. The Rev. Kathy Fullarton will officiate and burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of arrangements.
Millie was born May 13, 1930, the daughter of John L. and Alice I. (Lindstrom) Streeter in Tracy and graduated from Westbrook High School, the class of 1948. Millie was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Mershon on Nov. 10, 1954, in Wells. Millie enjoyed raising her children and helping them with homework while they were growing up, all the while working full time at Stampers in Wells. She volunteered her time as a reader at the school for many years. She was an excellent seamstress and loved to sew and was involved with Crafty Quilters. She canned many jars of tomatoes, beets, pickles and green beans. She enjoyed singing and working puzzle books. Millie was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, WELCA, the Hope Circle, and Altar Guild.
Mildred is survived by her six children: Nancy Mershon, Linda (husband Kent) Stern, Deanne Mershon and Lisa Mershon, all of Wells, Paul (wife Lauri) Mershon of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Mark (wife Nancy Kidd) Mershon of Minneapolis; four grandchildren: Dustin (wife Tara) Mershon of Mankato, Brittany Mershon of Chicago, Ill., Harrison Mershon (special friend Catherine Willis) of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Ashley Renee of Scottsdale; one brother, Donald Streeter of Bunker Hill, Ind.; two sisters: Carol Passer of Ramsey and Annette Foster of Walnut Grove; sisters-in-law: Donna Mershon of Wells, Joyce (husband LeRoy) Larson of Kiester and Marlene Oldenburg of Austin; one brother-in-law, Richard “Red” Mershon of Albert Lea; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob, in 1992; grandson, Griffin Mershon, in 2010; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
