Here are highlights in history for Aug. 12, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1986 — Dairyland Power Cooperative of La Crosse, Wis., announced that the 8.8 megawatt electrical generating plant in Twin Lakes would cease operations in September.
1976 — Test results confirmed that 294 trees in Albert Lea had Dutch elm disease and those trees were candidates for immediate removal.
1966 — More than $600,000 in improvements were made at the Albert Lea Municipal Airport.
