Story touched many people

I would like to thank Kelli Lageson for the article she did on my nephew Maxx Flaa. I, myself, am a lesbian. Maxx thanked me for coming out to my family because he feels they were more accepting of him because of it. All of us have known that Maxx was what most people would call “different” many years ago. I always knew the phone call would come someday with Mads telling me she was gay. So even I was taken back for a moment. Then, a moment later, his whole life made sense to me as it did for him. I always knew that someday my intelligent young niece would do great things. Growing up as Mads was a very difficult thing to watch. She was a very sad girl with pretty much only one younger friend that stuck by her. Thank you, Taylor. Kids were not nice to “her.” As Mads’ aunt, my heart hurt terribly for her. Children can be so cruel. My heart now explodes with joy and happiness for him. He knows who he is and what he wants in life. He has friends! No one should have to live life the way “Mads” did. Many children like Maxx don’t survive. Thanks to the support of his family he did survive. My family is adjusting to it. They love him unconditionally. Thank you Maxx for stepping out of the shadows and living the life you so deserve. If parents could teach their children to love everyone no matter who or what they are this would be a much better world. That young man would do anything for anyone. He will not hurt anyone and you should be so lucky to call him “friend.” I know Maxx is going to make this a better world. We are so very proud of you and love you unconditionally!
