CHICAGO (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have put left-handed reliever Jose Mijares on the 15-day disabled list because of a sprained right knee.
The Twins made the move before Thursday night’s game against the Chicago White Sox. The teams are tied for the AL Central lead.
Mijares was hurt in Wednesday night’s loss. He will have an MRI exam when the team returns to Minnesota on Friday. Mijares is 1-1 with a 2.81 ERA.
The Twins recalled right-handed reliever Jeff Manship from Triple-A Rochester. This will be his fifth separate stint in the majors this season.
Twins reliever Jon Rauch says he won’t be available Thursday because of a toe problem. He figures to be ready Friday against Oakland.
Shortstop J.J. Hardy is out of the lineup with a sore left wrist.
