Here are highlights in history for Aug. 18, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1991 — The ground-breaking ceremony for the new Albert Lea Community Child Care Center building on James Avenue would involve a large group of children with plastic shovels.
1981 — Eight Albert Lea High School students returned from a two week trip to Spain, a trip arranged by the Intra-American Student Programs organization.
1961 — Paul (Butch) Westrum of Albert Lea was in the training camp with the Seattle Totems of the Western Hockey League in Long Beach, Calif.
