Rebels climb back to .500

Kayla Stenzel and Val Sahr recorded double-doubles for the United South Central girls’ basketball team Friday as the Rebels posted a 63-42 victory over Mankato Loyola in Mankato.
Sahr scored 18 points and added 12 rebounds while Stenzel scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and USC (6-6, 5-2 Gopher) reached the .500 mark for the first time since Dec. 22.
Danielle Koestler scored 14 points and the Rebels went on a 14-2 run to close out the first half after trailing 19-14.
“The last 25 minutes was the most extended stretch of good basketball we have put together so far this year,” said USC head coach Stu Hendrickson.
The Rebels held a 34-22 advantage on the glass and committed a season-low 12 turnovers.
USC returns to its home court after a six-game road stretch Tuesday against Medford.
