You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for other things, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377- 7433.
Volunteer driver: You can help seniors maintain their independence when they are no longer able to drive to their appointments. Ride Services of Freeborn County needs additional drivers — one or more days a week. Drivers are reimbursed for mileage and receive trainings; call Senior Resources at 377-7433 for additional information and to volunteer.
Special Olympics coaches: Training for Special Olympics is gaining speed. Your help is needed for a variety of areas. To make a difference for these athletes, please call Jo Lowe at 377-3469. Unexpected benefits will be yours.
Taste of Heritage: For this family event, three to four volunteers are needed to help young children with craft projects related to the heritage theme. Please plan to help at Northbridge Mall from 12:30 to 3 p.m. March 31. Samples of the projects can be viewed at Senior Resources; the crafts include using paints, sand and glue to be completed while seated at tables. Call Pat Stumme at 377-7433, Senior Resources to lend a hand.
RSVP, sponsored by Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
