Here are highlights in history for Aug. 20, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1993 — State Rep. Bob Haukoos announced he would be retiring from politics the following year. At that time he would have been in the state Legislature for 16 years.
1983 — A total of 13 Albert Lea business ventures were featured with their small ads on the “Here’s My Card” part of the Tribune.
1973 — The Gateway Vocational Center was moving into its new location at 724 W. Clark St.
