In response to inquiries about The Salvation Army’s involvement in the response to the tragedy in Haiti:

“The Salvation Army has been serving in Haiti since 1950. Its primary work is with families and children — providing food and education as well as working to fight human trafficking. In the wake of the earthquake there are reports of heavy damage to The Salvation Army’s children’s home in Port-Au-Prince, although the children and staff are safe. Along with dozens of Salvation Army Schools in Haiti, there is a Salvation Army clinic in Haiti which operates 24/7 and serves more than 117,000 people a year. At this point there is no report on the condition of that clinic.”
