ST. PAUL (AP) — The University of Minnesota has received a $10 million federal grant to study the implications of climate change.
The National Science Foundation awarded the grant to a team led by Vipin Kumar of the computer-science department.
Kumar says researchers will use the money to design new analytical models that are based on existing climate data. Those would replace models that are based on physics.
He tells Minnesota Public Radio the work could ultimately lead to more detailed predictions.
