U.S. Highway 14 east of Owatonna will close beginning Monday as Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern Railroad crews construct a new railroad crossing, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour routes:
For motorists traveling east on Highway 14, go north on Steele County Road 43, then east on Steele County Road 180 and then back to Highway 14.
For motorists traveling west on Highway 14, two detours beginning at Steele County Road 180 will occur simultaneously. Follow signs closely at the Steele County Road 43 intersection, including to northbound I-35 and westbound Highway 14.
Work at the rail road crossing is expected to be completed by Friday. In the event of inclement weather project completion may be delayed.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
