Funeral services for Duane E. Anderson, age 82, of Albert Lea, will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Todd Walsh will officiate. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Freeborn County Servicemen’s Organization. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Duane Anderson

Duane died on Thursday, Aug. 26, at the Golden Living Center in Wayzata.

Duane Eugene Anderson was born on March 9, 1928, in Albert Lea the son of George Alfred and Palma (Holstad) Anderson. He grew up in the Kiester area attending school there and graduated from Albert Lea High School. Duane then enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving in Japan, Hawaii and China during WWII. Duane was united in marriage to Darlene Mae Hoeve on March 20, 1949, at Grace Lutheran Church. He worked at Litten for 33 years and retired from Streaters where he was an installation manager. Duane was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church, having been involved in the building/construction and served as president of the congregation and also a Sunday school teacher. Duane also did carpentry work having built homes in the Albert Lea area. He enjoyed playing the accordion, fishing, camping and golfing. Duane was always available to help his family and friends with construction projects and finishing antiques. Spending time with his grandchildren and being at the cabin with his wife and family were very important to him.

Duane is survived by his children, Dr. Debra (Douglas) Fincham, Vicki (Angel) Romero and Paula (Darrell) Adkins. Grandchildren, Aaron (Holly) Adkins, Mark (Sarah) Fincham, Ryan Fincham and Jacqueline Romero; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Darlene, and sister, Ardis Anderson Lund.
