Duluth burglary suspect jumps into Lake Superior

DULUTH — Duluth police said they arrested a burglary suspect after he jumped into Lake Superior.

The incident began at 10:30 a.m. Friday when a woman called police to report a burglary. She said she noticed her bathroom window was broken and a man came out of an upstairs bedroom. He fled out the front door with stolen items, pushing the resident against the wall.

Officers set up a perimeter and eventually got a tip from a witness who saw a person matching the suspect’s description. The suspect fled from an officer, ran down the city’s Lakewalk and jumped into Lake Superior before being arrested.
