Julianne L. Byron, 84, of Waseca, died on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Lake Shore Inn, Waseca.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Friar Marty Schaefer, celebrant. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, St. Mary Township, Waseca County. Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 2 to 6 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home in Waseca, and will continue on Sunday afternoon for one hour prior to services, at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to South Central Lakers Special Olympics.
Julianne Louise was born on Oct. 6, 1925, in Freeborn County, to Peter and Agnes (Mucha) Chicos. She graduated from Freeborn High School and went on to earn her teaching certificate from Mankato Normal School. Julianne taught country school in Waseca County for a number of years. On Dec. 29, 1949, she was united in marriage to Richard Martin Byron at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Owatonna. Julianne and Dick raised their family on their Wilton Township farm. They have resided in Waseca since their retirement from farming. Julianne was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. They had formerly belonged to St. Mary Catholic Church in St. Mary Township until its closing. Over the years Julianne and Dick were active in Waseca County DFL efforts. She enjoyed fishing, collecting antiques, baking and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Dick; children: Margaret (Justin) Carr of Queensland, Australia, Patrick (Rosy) Byron of Austin, Timothy (Eloise) Byron of Helena, Mont., Anne (Gary) Eustice of Hibbing, Richard (Mary) Byron of Belgrade, Mont., Eugene (Eve) Byron of Helena, Mont., Mary Bridget (Dan) Bell of Minneapolis, John (Jacquelin) Byron of Alvin, Texas, and Erin Byron of Waseca; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers: Leo (Betsy) Chicos,and John Chicos; sisters: Mary Jorgenson and Loretta Mohr; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, William in 1991; brothers: Peter, Andrew and Raymond; and sisters: Gertrude, Helen, Carolyn and Anne.
Casketbearers are Julianne’s children.
