Here are highlights in history for Sept. 2, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1988 — The Minnesota-Iowa District of the Danish Brotherhood and Danish Sisterhood would be holding their convention in Albert Lea over the Labor Day weekend.
1978 — A group in Worth County, Iowa, called Friends of the Shell Rock was promoting the concept of a green belt of at least 50 feet on each side of this river.
1958 — About 925 students would be attending the newly opened Southwest Junior High School.
