Alden-Conger Schools Superintendent Joe Guanella wants to let people in the community know that the school is not supporting a sales promotion by a company out of Texas to raise money for the school’s basketball team.

Guanella said in the spring a few business in Alden had received calls from a Texas company asking them to support a sales promotion for items like T-shirts and pencils that the school could sell to raise money.

Recently, he’s getting word that businesses into Mansfield and Albert Lea have been getting similar calls as well.

“We are not supporting this,” Guanella said. “We’re not raising funds through some type of sales promotion.”

He said he’s worried now that calls are going out of the Alden area that he will not be able to spread the message that the school is not involved with this company.

He is reaching out to the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce to inform its members and hopes that word will also spread to people outside Freeborn County.
