1991 — Minnesota’s Independent-Republican Party, which had adopted this name in 1976, was considering a plan to drop the independent part of the name.
1981 — Albert Lea Mayor O.H. “Buzz” Hagen signed a proclamation declaring this day as National Grandparents Day.
1971 — Ken Ulman and Doris Olson were the winners in the 36th annual Albert Lea Country Club Golf Tournament.
