Worth County Public Health provides screenings

Worth County Public Health will provide the following upcoming screenings for Worth County residents:

On Sept. 20 there will be a Northwood Pines Nail Clinic at 9 a.m. Call 324-1741 to schedule your appointment.

On Oct. 7 there will be a child immunization clinic at Worth County Public Health Office, Northwood, Iowa, from 1 to 4 p.m. Children under 6 may receive a free lead test at this time. Free home inspections are available for lead hazards to insure your child’s home is not poisoning your family. Call ahead for an appointment at 324-1741 or 800-765-1388.

On Oct. 13 there will be a parenting fair at Northwood-Kensett Elementary School at 6 p.m. Come visit the WJG mentoring booth. Mentors are always needed. If you are an interested adult or high school student, stop to talk to us.

On Oct. 25 there will be a Funny Face Festival at the Northwood Elementary School from 6 to 8 p.m. The JEL embers will be assisting. Free to everyone.

In October WJG mentoring will have a hayride for all mentors and mentees. More information to follow.

Influenza vaccine has arrived at Worth County Public Health. We have both the influenza mist and the shots available. Cost is $20. Persons with Medicare B will be at no charge. Clinics will be set up in the surrounding communities by Oct. 1. Please call ahead for an appointment at 641-324-1741 or 800-765-1388.

The Northwood Swensrud Fund has provided the senior citizens of Northwood with free transit rides within the town. To arrange a ride with the taxi call 390-1640 or 324-1075.
