Increased spending doesn’t limit budgets

One of the big problems with the state budgets is cost of state workers and teacher retirement plans. They are covered by three plans, each costing tax dollars to support. They have Social Security coverage, a fixed benefit retirement plan and a 403(b) retirement plan.
Robin Brown, Dan Sparks and the Democratic-controlled House and Senate voted to triple the amount the state and school districts could match in the 403(b) plans; this is not going to help state budgets and, in fact, the Albert Lea School District, where Robin Brown teaches, had to cut direct student spending in their last budget to cover these new expenses.
Rich Murray, the Republican candidate for District 27A House seat, and Kathy Green, the Republican candidate for state Senate District 27, understand that you cannot get budgets under control by increasing spending. Vote for Rich and Kathy in November.
