The Albert Lea Just for Kix Studio has been busy at competitions over the last two months and will perform its spring show on May 5 at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at Albert Lea High School.

On March 3 the dancers traveled to Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. They placed first in mini kix fifth grade, middle jazz fourth through sixth grade and junior jazz seventh through 12th grade.

On April 13, five dancers from the Albert Lea Just for Kix program competed in Rochester in solo, duet and small group categories.

The dancers did a choreographed routine for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes to music of their choice. They were judged on technique, execution, choreography,routine and performance presentation.

Fourth graders Emma Turbett and Jacklyn Matson performed in the hip hop duet division and placed first.

Fifth graders Rowan Kraft and Mallory Dempewolf competed in the kick duet division, and Elizabeth Kunkel competed in the solo kick division.

On April 15, dancers competed in Rochester once again winning five awards. They received first place for middle kix seventh grade, senior kix eighth through 12th grade and junior jazz seventh through 12th grade.

The dancers took second place in middle jazz fourth through sixth grade and third place for middle kix sixth grade.
