Here are highlights in history for Sept. 21, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1988 — One of the columnists featured on the Tribune’s editorial page was Staff Writer Anne Jacobson. (She is now editor of the Red Wing Republican Eagle.)
1978 — The final segment of Interstate 90 in Minnesota, northwest of Blue Earth, would be opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony. (The rest areas are now at this location.)
1948 — Tryouts for the play, “Cuckoos on the Hearth,” were held by Albert Lea’s Gateway Players.
