Freemond Madson Auxiliary

The Freemond Madson Auxiliary to Post No. 447 Veterans of Foreign Wars met Monday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall with President Eunice Hatleli presiding.
As department representative the District Chaplain Gloria Njos from Austin auxiliary inspected the auxiliary’s books and activities and reported everything in order and commended the auxiliary for its commitment to the veteran’s work.
Judy Siemasko transferred from Madison, S.D., and was welcomed as a new member.
The charter was draped for departed sisters: Leatrice Spilde, Rebecca Medd and past National President Betty Morris.
A thank you from the REACT club was received for the 150 dozen cookies that the Auxiliary donated to their I-35 traveler’s rest stop. Over 6,700 travelers stopped from 39 states and Canada.
Now is the time for high school students to be working with the Voice of Democracy title “Does My Generation Have a Role in America’s Future?” and Patriotic’s Pen title “Does Patriotism Still Matter?” Chairman Marilyn Danielson has all the materials and information at 373-0518.
First District V.F.W. meeting is Oct. 2 at Lake City.
Eunice Hatleli won the door prize and also served lunch. Don’t lose the auxiliary cancer benefits. Dues need to get in as soon as possible.
The next meeting is Monday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall.
