Where is the correspondence?

Mr. Mayor, what happened?

There are people waiting for your response to my questions at the Albert Lea City Council meeting a few weeks ago. I went to City Hall and asked for a copy of the letter that was sent to the Waseca County attorney asking her to drop charges against Mr. Norman. I received it, and it states that the city has been made whole, and they request the charges be dropped.

When I asked the city for a copy of the letter from the Waseca attorney stating she would not drop the charges, I am told the city attorney doesn’t have a copy of any letter like that. Now, having worked in the legal profession for almost 20 years, I know that an attorney would send a letter stating they won’t drop charges. So where is that information? I want to see that correspondence.

The mayor and council members are depending on that information to explain why the charges weren’t dropped as requested. That’s one problem. The other problem is the fact that the mayor himself told me that he would respond to my questions. Well, what happened? Did the council members tell him not to answer or did the mayor just back out on giving this information out? This is information that one would think the city leaders would want to get out, but for some reason won’t. Are they hiding something? Are they admitting they did wrong?

Come on, Mr. Mayor, tell us your side of it.
