Here are highlights in history for Sept. 27, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1987 — A Tribune article by Kathy Jensen reported that the historic Christensen home in Clarks Grove was being torn down and would be replaced by the new Fobair Furniture Store.

1977 — A ground-breaking ceremony was held for the new Seventh Day Adventist Church on the west side of U.S. Highway 69.

1947 — Seventh- and eighth-grade students of the Freeborn School toured the Albert Lea Tribune, Morlea Dairy, KATE Radio and the Freeborn County Courthouse.
