Here are highlights in history for Sept. 28, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1988 — Harvey L. Denzer resigned as Glenville’s police chief. He had been a police officer since 1979. Denzer planned to attend Mankato State University.

1978 — The Albert Lea Park and Recreation Board was considering plans to control the usage of city tennis courts for weekend tournaments and/or public usage.

1968 — Lea College opened for its third year with about 800 students. Of his number, 325 were freshmen.
