Last Thursday, Albert Lea junior Karli Kriewall tied a school record for girls’ track and field in pole vaulting.
During the True Team meet in Faribault, Kriewall achieved a distance of 9 feet and 6 inches, the same distance Kara Haroldson set as a record in 1999.
During Tuesday’s triangular in Faribault, Kriewall recorded a new school record of 9 feet and 8 inches.
“She’s competing at such a high level and handles the pressure well,” Tigers coach Margo Wayne said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if she broke her own record again because she’s steadily improving.”
