ST. PAUL (AP) — This September was the wettest in Minnesota’s modern climate records.
That’s according to a preliminary analysis released Friday by the Minnesota Climatology Working Group.
Statewide, an average of 6.46 inches of rain fell in September 2010. That breaks the previous high of 6.20 inches from 1900.
The biggest contributor to the new statewide record came from southern Minnesota, where monthly rainfall totals exceeding 10 inches were common.
The wet September follows a soggy summer in Minnesota.
