Albert Lea Medical Center awards scholarships

Albert Lea Medical Center — part of Mayo Health System recently awarded two $750 scholarships to students in its service area who are currently enrolled in an accredited college or technical school and pursuing a career in health care.

Recipients of the scholarships are Melissa Brackey, of Lake Mills, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Allen College, Waterloo, Iowa and Paige Nelson, of Emmons, who is pursuing a degree in Biology/Pre-Med at the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

Two additional $750 scholarships were awarded to non-traditional students who are pursuing post-secondary education in a health care field five or more years after completing high school or receiving a GED.

Recipients of the non-traditional scholarships are Rita Moyer, of Albert Lea, pursuing a degree in Organizational Management and Leadership at Concordia University in St. Paul and Debra Wacholz, of Albert Lea, pursuing a degree in Alcohol and Drug Counseling at Metropolitan State in St. Paul.
